2 San José police officers arrested, accused of tampering with evidence
Two San José Police Department officers, Raydarius Surry, 29, and Destiney Thompson, 30, were arrested Oct. 28 on felony charges of evidence tampering and filing a false police report. The investigation began in August after a baggie of suspected narcotics from a May 3 arrest report by Surry went missing; Surry later stopped an unrelated pedestrian, seized a similar bag, and booked it under the May case number without documenting the stop, while Thompson reviewed bodycam footage to help replace the evidence. Both are Gilroy residents, were placed on administrative leave in September, and officials found no other discrepancies.
